K10D catch in focus

Does the K10 have catch-in-focus? I was looking at the manual and do not see it listed in the custom settings. There is a setting on my K200 to switch it on or off.

yes

you need to put the manual lens on auto focus single
likely need to set the menu to permit aperture ring

hope this helps

Unfortunately it's not a menu option on the K10.

Not sure what exactly you need, but if you switch to AF-C it will help, especially if shooting slower moving objects.

Yeah i have tried to work this out many a times. but pretty much gave up

I read somewhere that the you need to short the camera body contacts with a piece of all foil?? i cant understand why if you had a lens without automatic focus contacts you'd be using catch in focus.. but anyway.

Yeah i never managed to sort it.. this was the blog i found initially...

Photography Rulez: Focus Trap or Catch In Focus

If you make it work, let me know!

#Edit... actually found this... https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-dslr-discussion/133293-catch-focus...ful-thing.html

the instructions for the kr work on my K10. so long story shot.

-AF.S

M, Tav, AV all work, so take your pick

- Fully depress the shutter fire. (previously i has just half pressing it expecting it to work.. The shutter wont wire until you see the focus confirm in the view finder.

Cool. I feel like an idiot.

I had a 55mm K series lens attached, and i can confidently conclude that any k-mount with a metal mount will work fine.

Just tried with an m42 adapter, yeeeaaaaah you have to short the body contacts (very bottom two under the lens where enough for me) for it to fire... as so long as your fully de-pressing the shutter..

One more pentaxian now just a little bit less ignorant

Really tho. Its center spot focusing, so realistically all your photos will be boring if the subject doesn't hog a decent amount of the frame... Still.. fast moving things here I come!

Great when the subject is moving, such as a bee sitting on a flower on a windy day. And I use it with my K10 on a monopod and gently tip the monopod forward and the K10 fires when it's in focus. I use old manual focus lenses almost exclusively, and this technique / feature gets me a lot of shots I'd miss otherwise.

I use it all the time with my K200 for macro shots. Works great even with tubes. I picked up a K10, hasn't arrived yet, but I was looking at the manual and didn't see it. I was wondering if it worked the same as my K200. I use mostly manual focus lenses and hoped it worked the same. Thanks all.
