no battery in camera memory

Hi, does anyone know what happens if you store a KR or similar digital body with out a battery to the memory? not just the date and time but to any user settings?
does it revert totally to "out of the box" or are some settings remembered?

There should be an internal battery which would allow to keep the settings. Not sure how long this one can last.

They have super capacitors now, they will eventually drain and forget the settings if you leave it without the main battery for an extended period of time, but once you put the battery back in they will recharge, unlike the coin cells. I would expect it to be able to store the settings for at least a few days, possibly a week.

I don`t know about KR but K-7 uses a Seiko TS518FE rechargeable lithium battery/www.sii.co.jp/components/battery/productSpecBatEN.jsp?recordID=78 for memory retention, as far as for how long, no idea.

There is no backup battery or I would have, believe me. Just a capacitor. I don't think it's designed to be stored for long periods without the battery in it. Of course having to keep a charged battery in it means it's always ready

For reference, Canon DSLR cameras use a user-replaceable lithium coin cell (usually CR2016 or CR2025).

*ist D has a coin cell too, under a little cover on the bottom of the camera.
