Dark spot on bottom of shots

I'm getting a dark spot on the bottom center of some of my shots. First guess is that its seeing the bottom projection tip of the "lens blinder thingy" with the lens open to full wide. Anyone else experience that? Any other ideas? Is the blinder (correct term?) that important? Thanks.

I suspect that you have a dust spot but could you post an image to confirm?

Are you using a flash? I'll get this on my DA 16-45mm when opened up at a wide angle with the lens hood on and using the built-in flash. Read later this was expected under those conditions. A lens hood is interfering with the image under ambient light conditions isn't really doing it's job is it?

From page 71 of the manual:

"When using the built-in flash, remove the lens hood before shooting."

I always forget to remove the lens cap while using flash, and for some reason my pic's always turn out Black

While doing closeups with my Sigma, and the 24 - 70 f2.8 I was wondering why the flash compensation didn't have any effect. Until I realized that the lens was blocking out all the flashes light

Sorry it took so long, but I had to find a way to post. From other remarks, looks like my first guess was on the mark, but I'm going to post the pic for other's reference (and the fact that it took so much legwork to get'er done).

OK, why doesn't the pic work? Anyone have any pointers? Here's the code I used:

" IMG]http://sdonaldson.myphotoalbum.com/view_photo.php?set_albumName=album01&id=IMGP0435[/IMG "

(started and finished w/ brackets, of course)

because you are linking TO A PAGE, not to an image

if you want to link to the image, (assuming its not write protected), right click on the image, go down to properties, and copy/paste the source code

but i'm gonna go ahead and save you the headaches

Try to post the image again. first resize it to a web view (800x800 etc) and then hit "quick reply".
When that window opens, click "go advanced" you can then type a message in the dialog box.
Scroll down the page and look for "manage attachments" and click on that button.
A second pop up will appear and there will be 5 spots to browse and insert the image directly from the computer.
When the site has downloaded the image and it appear on the original message page, you can post the message "submit reply".

Hard to offer an accurate response then. Either dust or hood. Most likely a hood shadow with the flash I guess.

It was a semi circular dark area centered at the bottom of the photo. Must have been the hood. I don't think I've seen a dust bunny that big.

I removed the pic because I couldn't get it to work & decided not to continue w/ the site. Next time will use Flikr.com (sp?).
