Photokina price drop?

So, my friend wants to buy my k-x. I am thinking it might be a good time to grab a k-5 as it doesn't seem like the k30 is a huge upgrade.

Question though, does it make sense to wait a month? Do we anticipate the k-5 to drop even further in price?

Thanks

I don't expect the price to drop on the K-5 for now. This is probably a good pricesetting to clear stock and have it sold-out by X-mass. The K-30 will go down a bit soon.

it's already had the drops, and has sold out at some dealers already, doubt it will make it to christmas
if you want a new k5 grab it now, you aren't likely to save much by waiting, and risk missing out on new stock

I think the k-5 will settle at $799 body ($100 less than now) in december. The k-30 will settle to $749 ($50 less thannow) body in december. I don't think they will drop after Photokina - that might be too soon.

One can only hope that the k-30 will settle at $699 body by next summer.

I'm not sure the inventories will support that price drop on the K5 at this point depending on how long it is before the K3 (or whatever it is called) arrives

K30 body will definitely drop to 749 body/799 kit and maybe even 999 with the 18-135 kit (this would sorely tempt me) by xmas i think. whether it gets as low as 699 depends rather on what comes along as an entry level model. one advantage of launching an entry below the K30 will be stopping some of the price erosion on a mid level model

Improved sensor - Improved AutoFocus - Weather Sealed Body

Personally, I think it looks like a huge upgrade from the K-x... However... I'd probably go for a 'lighty-used' K5 or get saving for the new model (post-Photokina)

Well, I just unboxed my new K30 and I must say, if you are NOT going to get a K5 and grip, get the K30. The K30 in my hands is highly sweet!!!!

In real life/3D the K30 is WAY nicer than what you can see on the web!
It's got a great weight to it, and feels awesome in my hands!
The LCD is crystal clear and bright.

The K5 is awesome - sure - in fact I have two, but the K30 is just too nice!
Get the K30 if you are on the fence!

If ithe K30 is not a big upgrade from the k-x then neither is the K5. The K30 and K5 are so close in many specs, but look at the ones that matter to you the most.

Doubt the price would drop at all. It seems most lenses are actually getting expensive 2nd hand as well..
