Try putting the CD from your Kx into the CD drive.

or if that doesn't work:
You can just burn a blank CD with the name
S-SW55
Which is the name of the original CD (see the manual). it won't matter that it's empty, just insert the CD after it's burnt then run the installer.

thank you,
Ok , I can not get it working on WIN7 64b, have tried on two Dell laptops, anyone had any luck with WIN7?
I did manage to get it working on an old Mac Mini ( OS X 10.6.8 ) , a bit disappointing, I can not see live image from the camera just pictures taken, is how that works??

I use the tether program with Win 7 64bit and a K10D. Try loading it with Win XP [service pack2 ] in your compatibility mode, it worked for me.

Yep. Same as how the camera doesn't have live view...

Bingo!

But none of the other Pentax tethering programs (PKTether, PKTriggerCord) support Live View either.

To get Live View, you need another solution like using the video out.

You don't have to burn it, renaming a flashcard should also work .

I too have the K10D & Win 7 64bit. I tried above. Didn't work.

I downloaded the XP Mode from Windows and reinstalled it & the Pentax Programs.

Still didn't work.

Grrrrrrr!!!!

Using PK Tether - Thanks

I tried using Remote Assistant 3.51 (RA3.51) with the PENTAX K10D from a standard user account and from an administrator account on Windows Vista 32-bit computer and so far, it only works from the administrator account. So, I suggest logging on to the administrator account, install RA3.51 on it, restart the computer, login to the same administrator account, turn on the K10D, be sure it’s set to PC for data transfer, connect the cable to the K10D only first, be sure that the K10D is still power on and connect it to the computer. Last, start RA3.51 and test it with a test shot from the program and a small interval test of 3 shots, one every 30-45 seconds. I did it and it works ok. I’m not sure if it can work on 64-bit versions of Windows.
Regarding PK Tether, it works in either a user account or an administrator account on a Windows Vista 32-bit computer.
