Significant K200D features ?

Hi all

I have owned a Pentax K10D for about eight months with which I am pretty delighted, but I'm considering the purchase of a lighter 'back-up' body for an extended vacation. I noticed from reading the finalised specifications that the K200D will boast a 10MP sensor, Dust & Weather sealing AND an indispensable Sv mode, which I use a great deal on my K10D. What (if any) other benefits/disadvantages have PentaxForums members observed concerning the forthcoming K200D ?

Best regards
Richard

There must be 10 different threads going on the subject. I suggest reading one or two rather than starting yet another.

one significant feature of the K200D is that it will significantly empty out your wallet.

It's not much lighter, 3oz.

If you enjoy the 2 e-dials on the K10D, then I say don't go for the K200D. Better off getting another K10D if you really just want a "back-up".

If you picked up a K200D you would have to carry AA batteries and possibly a charger instead of just taking the same charger and batteries you already have.
I think that when talking about a backup camera the only reasons for not getting the exact same camera are if the new one is similar for a lot less money or much better. Neither of these reasons apply when talking about the K200D compared to the K10D.

for $100 more than you can get a K10D right now, does that justify some of the new features in the K200D? (and as was said, then it uses AA's and not the same LI-ION batteries/grip etc...) If I were in your situation I'd scoop up another K10D and a couple extra batteries but forget the grip - I'd keep the "backup" as a light alternative to the one with the grip.
