In order to sell in any great volume, there needs to be a significant point of difference compared to the dominant brands. I think mirrorless, with light weight and low price point, might the best way to achieve that point of difference.

Voting is fun (and doesn't cost anything) but no one should expect an FF model at Photokina 2012. I'd love to see one myself because I fear that Pentax will be losing a lot of users to the D600, but I just don't think it is realistic yet.

I'd be happy to vote with my dollars if only Pentax would let me. In a way, they're forcing me to vote with my dollars, my K20D needs to go in for service (the SDM contacts are fried) and I can't be without a camera for 6 weeks or more. I needs a second body anyway, but I won't be buying any more APS-Cs. What am I supposed to do? They just seem to be waiting for the perfect time to release one, but they need to realize that the rest of the industry won't stand still.

Indeed. If Pentax don't come out with a FF, and the AF on the D600 is as good as the D700, I'll buy a D600.

In the camera market today with all the mirrorless systems, the niche a DSLR plays in is 1) ultimate IQ (in the form of a FF sensor) and 2) fast AF-C. Unfortunately these are the exact 2 things Pentax doesn't do.

I think unless Pentax can address these 2 things why would people want a Pentax DSLR? I'm sounding glass half full here I know, but cameras like the OMD/NEX and D600 are the perfect "pincer" move on the Pentax's market. Want small/weather sealed? Buy an OMD. Want ultimate in IQ or need ultimate in sports camera, buy a D600. What Pentax has left to compete on is just price I guess.

Pentax FF + FA limiteds + cheap WR is the one thing pentax can do that others dont. If D600 and 6D is real (which it probably is), pentax have to follow suit or K mount will go the way of 43rds, or be content with offering to the lower end of the market.

I vote for D600 like

As for FF mirrorless imho there's little point ATM unless it's designed from the ground up like the rumored FF NEX

I believe there are people like me don't care what FF Pentax would offer as long as it is a k-mount FF digital. It's better come out quick before I completely lost patient on this brand.

I have money waiting for a mid-high..if the high ISO performance of the 36mp would equal the one of the 24mp I would go for 36mp..but even if its 24mp and its coming out in march..I will go for it the first day its available..
