Which Pentax FF would you buy ?

Hi,

If Pentax releases a FF camera, part of its success will be a good positioning in the FF market in terms of features and price.
So, here is a little poll to have a (very) rough estimate of customers wishes, so we can see at photokina if Pentax made the right choice or not

Which model would you be likely to buy ?
  • An "entry-level" FF with limited features, D600-like, 24Mp - around $1800
  • A mid-level FF, 24Mp, more advanced features like WR, ISO 102400, 10-12 fps, blazing-fast AF, 1080p@120fps - around $2000-2500
  • High-end FF, 36 Mp, D800-like - $3000
  • Ron's K-11, mirrorless FF, 24 Mp, EVF - $1200-1500

I'd buy any of those. But I think your blazing-fast AF should be in a high end FF.

I'm happy with the features of the K-5, but miss the large sensor size. So, I think the entry level would be fine for me.

I would keep my K200D for a while until it doesn't fit my needs. I have so many investments on ASPC lens. Changing to FF doesn't mean I can produce more beautiful pictures. Focus on improving my skills is my goal.

Yeah maybe. It's just a rough list of features that could justify a $2000-2500 price if it has the same sensor as the D600.

Me, I would go for the mirrorless.
FF is tempting but not at 2 or 3 grands. And size is a big factor for me, I got a 5D MkI for a few months but it was too bulky and stayed at home too often.
Hence the future NEX FF sounds very appealing but I would prefer to stay with Pentax

I'd prefer a choice of a high end FF but with a lower MP count. If I want 36MP I'll buy a 645D... :P

So happy to see my mirrorless in this line

At the moment I'm more into a better and advanced AF-system. That is more important then sensorsize. I would still love APS_H or a full frame with a cropp function like D800.

No way I'd go for a mirrorless FF. I'd have to be convinced there was a serious gain in IQ to lay out 2-3K for a camera (but if I were convinced I'd do it in a heartbeat ;~)

Yes, but it would be second in my list, since I need a better camera for my sports photography first.

A Pentax K-5 casing and 24Mp FF sensor. That would be a camera I would buy!

Darn, no option to select more than one; perhaps two options.

Full frame or not; hoping one day that Pentax reintroduces a manual only camera - perhaps maybe with only autofocus. As for the example for manual - just show items like shutter speeds, aperature, iso, etc... and also be able to select zones for metering and focus. Besides that just have a three or five dot metering option - green for "right on".
