Pentax K20D survives explosion accident

I'm pretty sure you've all seen this...


But I guess you haven't heard of this yet.

no videos, unfortunately, just photos. but the damage can be seen (not that much), either the K20D is that tough, or the phone bursting into flames wasn't that strong.

I quoted your original post but didn't find the url data in there also. And though I can't say for sure, it looks as though the forum isn't publishing the link information.

K20D were so damned good btw. We worked with several of them for nearly two years and they were real workhorses. Two of our main units went through nearly 250 000 shutters without as much as a peep or problem. My wife and I donated them to family members who(to my knowledge) are still using them today. Our K-5's on the other hand... not so tough unfortunately.

Hmm I'd like to hear about that. I was kind of having this impression that while the seals are probably just as good over the years, the "robustness" of the bodies had diminished due to poorer QC after Pentax moved their production facilities from Japan... or after Hoya bought Pentax.
