Where will my money go?

I have 2 K5s and a K30.

I was hoping for a WR super zoom to replace my aging DA18-250 - off the list now.
I was hoping for a K3 24mp APS-C body - Maybe at Photokina - hopefully at under $2500.
I was hoping that the DA560 would come in around $3-4K - off the list now.

I want the Sigma 85mm f1.4 - very doable.
I want the Samyang 24mm Tilt/Shift - very doable.
I want the Sigma 300mm f2.8 - very doable.

If all else fails.

I want the 2013 Kawasaki Ninja 600 update - especially if the K3 or FF Pentax does not come in 2013.

Let me know how the 85mm 1.4 is for portraits using those bodies you have.

Good luck to you. I nearly killed my back toting around my K-5 and a few primes last holiday. If I'd had the equivalents in Nikon with the D800, I'd be in a wheelchair by now.

Seriously, I may buy a K-5 IIs as a second body (well, fourth, actually, as I don't use the *istD or K20D much these days), but I may also just wait for Photokina and CP+.

I'm pretty strongly leaning towards a K-30 to replace my aging K10D. Here's what I see:

- K-30 has focus-peaking (useful as all of my lenses are manual focus), 60 FPS video (good for the things I want to be able to shoot video of), and is substantially lighter
- K-5 II has better battery life, possibly better auto-focus (not very useful to me with my aforementioned manual focus lenses), and possibly a slightly better LCD

The battery life is the only thing that makes me even slightly hesitant about the K-30, but with 110 g less camera to carry around, it shouldn't be too hard to carry an extra battery (or some AAs, since it can use those too).

Is there anything I'm missing just from the specs? Is there likely to be any difference in IQ at all short of going to the K-5 IIs? I figure the difference between the K10D and the K-30 will be a lot greater than any possible difference between the K-30 and the K-5 II.

Thanks! My full frame Nikon and primes are lighter than my K-5 kit was! I can now run further and faster!

Yes the new 'G' [prime] lenses are indeed light.

Time to sell my Pentax rig. I love it but compared to the D800E it's a no-contest. I was hoping that Pentax had overcome the limitations of 24MP sensors and release a 24MP K-3 which would allow me to keep my DA*200 & FA*300 instead of buying Nikon telephotos. Seeing as my D800E has a 15million pixel 1.5x crop mode it's probably pointless hanging onto an APS-C camera anyway. Fast Nikon Tele's with VR cost a fortune.

Ricoh took control a year ago at the end of the month, not quite sufficient time to produce a product - yet, however in terms of putting their stamp on the company - they have succeeded. The higher prices (fiasco), not once, but twice now - even under the guise of a discount. Ricoh's re-branding the Tameron lens and then putting on a higher price sticker was the unfortunate indicator for me. In my mind this I believe is the tipping point.

This is just a hobby for me, and in truth the K5 is all I really need. Check book is closed. I will continue with Pentax, since I have everything I need. Folks are out there with their *istDL and film still, so I can use the K5 until the cows come home. I am not going to change mounts, just gonna go take pictures. That is what this is all about anyway - its not about the gear, just a way to capture images.

These new announcements are a disappointment for me - not because I needed something new, but they are an indication of how Ricoh intends to run the business - and its not encouraging at all. Ricoh bought the company - but they did not buy the customer's loyalty. They can still turn it around, but usually a tiger does not change its stripes. So, the fat lady just finished the song......

Bossa, they will release a K-3, question is whether it is in 2 weeks, or in 6 months.
The K3 was a April fools joke created on PF.

I wonder how much damage that little 'joke' did to the Pentax brand image.

My K5 does everything I need from a APSC DSLR. No need to upgrade to any of the two new K5's. This is the first Photokina without a major new Pentax release.

Either the K-5 Classic or the K-5 IIs, once AF tests have proven how much improved (or not) the AF is on the new release.

But as for now probably a DA*50-135 or a Tamron 70-200 f2.8.

I have a K-5, which does everything I want, so I'm in no hurry to upgrade just yet. I'll spend my money on a couple more limited primes.

Same boat as you... 50-135 vs 70-200.... Price increases may have helped my decision though.

My money will be going on a Q-10, 01, 02, 03, 06 and Q-K adaptor.
I'm quite happy with my APS-C bodies and lenses for now.
