Honestly I could care less one way or the other. If people want it, fine, as long as it doesn't allow Pentax to jack up the price on new cameras theres no harm at all.

That said, I use manual old K-mount lenses a lot (I'd say a good half my shots) and I have never, ever, missed the aperture lever. Stopping down has always worked just fine, and if I'm in a situation where I see myself having wildly fluxuating exposure levels, I'll probably opt to use a modern AF lens instead simply for ease of use for reasons beyond just not wanting to use stop down metering.

The problem with that is...at least for me...the meter reading is often wildly inaccurate in stop-down mode. Most times, I'd be closer if I had no meter in the camera and just used the "sunny 16" rule.
Try another focus screen, like the Canon EE-S screen... You need a "linear" focus screen for stop-down metering, as most focus screens are optimized for wide-open metering and kit lenses, and as such are really bad at stop-down metering.

Or...perhaps some folks have previous experience with Pentax gear to call upon and KNOW the camera is getting in the way. I exclusively shot slides for several decades using Pentax cameras. I could probably count on one hand the times I felt the need to bracket in order to get the exposure I wanted. I'm just wishing that, in the digital age, I could again trust my camera, forget about it, and concentrate on the shot.

Thanks. I'd heard that changing screens helped and that the K10D was one of the worst at metering with K and M lenses. I plan on eventuallly upgrading my K10D so I can't decide if I want to invest more money in it at this time. For the time being, I just shoot in an auto mode and fix it in post.

I think I miss the aperture ring more than anything else.

So, I finally can add your vote - as an aperture ring (lens) would (nearly) be useless without an aperture coupler (body) ?

Yes, please count me in: de-cripple.

Give me the ability to use flash and charge me more for the functionality (to make up for some lost new lens sales).

Its time for Pentax/Ricoh to really boost their camera sales by building on the value of all those wonderful Takumar/Pentax lenses in circulation. I even promise to buy a new limited!

Great! Pentax should have done that much earlier! Or it shouldn't have been crippled at the beginning!
Add me on the list please.
