Originally posted by JimJohnson I've mentioned this before, but the sucess or failure of this petition lies on how Pentax/Ricoh views its company. If that view is that Pentax's primary interest is in selling camera bodies, I think it has a good chance of success. On the other hand, if that view is primarily that Pentax/Richoh is a seller of lens, it is in their interest to allow only enough backwards compatibility to retain its body of Pentax enthusiasts.
If we Pentax owners want to see this functionality in Pentax cameras, we need to assure Pentax that we will buy enough bodies to offset the potentially softer sales of its current production lenses.
Either way they could be better served by having bodies with uncrippled mounts. if someone likes old lenses (like I do), they're currently better served buying a Nikon body, which doesn't cripple the old lenses in any way at all (assuming you buy an even moderatly expensive body, D7000 for example). Someone who buys a Nikon body isn't going to buy any Pentax lenses, or any other Pentax products either. (Possibly a Q.)
