I would definitely love to see a de-crippled k-mount.

Imagine being able to easily use a $50 Pentax-M 50mm ƒ/1.7. Great lens, great price, but a minor PITA on crippled bodies
I don't see any problems using that lens. I do use it a lot. The 'metering' does not bother me. The viewfinder without a microprism THAT bothers me.

Seriously, why introduce that feeler if the overall trend is in the opposite direction? And with the green button there exists a nice, easy workaround.

While most of the time when using my old lenses the crippled K-mount isn't much of an issue, there are the odd photos when a fully working k-mount would be a god send. I do most of my work of a tripod nowadays and the extra step needed to stop down isn't much of an issue at all; however, when I'm using the camera hand-held for wildlife photography etc. I'd love to be able to stick it on Aperture or Shutter priority and benefit from auto-exposure with my lovely old film lenses.

I actually bought a smc A 50mm 1.7 the other day to replace the M version on my digital camera (it now lives on my MX all the time) expressly so I could have my favourite lens with Aperture Priority.

This is actually why I went to the M42 lenses - one gets the full functionality of the lens with the crippled mount. Before that I contemplated crippling the lens mount, to remove the connecting couplings but did not because then it would be not what it was built to be.

I keep wondering if all these people who say "count me in" will actually rush out and purchase the new camera body when available? Especially if it is a flagship model with a 24mmX36mm sensor and a price tag to match?

they won't. But they will complain about the higher lens prices.

And there people here that can't help themselve but express some cynism for all ot this...

And they'll continue to observe and judge other from their ivory tower whatever the others are actually doing...

And there the guy commenting that... He might continue to comment this in the future the very same way.

Maybe a pattern there and they have more in common altogether than they would admit publicly !

Surely not all, but I would. As I would have if one of the recent APS-C cameras had had a fully functional mount. Now, maybe I wouldn't buy another APS-C just for that. But probably.

I'm pretty sure that's what they call a false dichotomy. There is no reason to suggest that a new camera with a decrippled mount has to be (or is even likely to be) a full frame.
You may not have noticed but Pentax flagship models aren't full frame.

I haven't upgraded to the K3 because the K5 II does what I need and the improvements in the K3 aren't enough to convince me to part with the cash. If the next APS-C flagship model has a fully functioning mount, would I upgrade? Absolutely.

This is a basic feature that should be there even in low-end cameras, and should have higher priority than other gimmicks, IMHO.

It's not an issue of making a brand sparking new model with lots of features, it's about getting a feature that should have always been there in the first place.
