Oh come on guys. its just not profitable to do that.
Think about it.
If the new cameras worked perfectly or EASILY with all the TONs of old Pentax glass floating around in the market, new customers wouldn't be AS motivated to buy the new Pentax glass.
Thats why Sony dropped the A-mount.
Its just modern day quick profit politics.
Besides, changing things so that people have to buy new things means job security for engineers.

Count me in.

But I would just like my K50 to function as advertised with my collection of M42 lenses, like my K200d and *ist DL2 did.

Unfortunately, the latest Pentax DSLR - the K-3 - also does not feature an aperture coupler.
So, Ricoh/Pentax executives will be asked about this issue at CP+ again.
Yes, please ask them.
I still cannot understand Pentax.
Ok, if a K-r, K30 or K50 still has a crippled K-Mount, itīs a political decition.
But all K5 and K3? Hey, they are or have been the top body of a brand which wants to cut off a bit of the Nikon market!
Why dont you do it? It is, like I already wrote, only a few cents or dollars.
From the *istDs to the K-3 Limited I own a lot of Pentax DSLR.
Do you think I would have bought less when the price is 1500 Euros instead of 1490 or 900 instead of 890?

I think that a Full-Frame will come this year (crossing fingers).
Ok.
But what is a FF body without lenses? Nobody will buy a FF camera for a DFA100 only.
So please give us, at least with the upcoming FF a full compatible mount. Then we can try out our cam with the old K- and M-series in the vitrines
And you can be sure that we will wait for a more complete FF "digital" lens line up.
But I will not buy a FF-Pentax only for using "digital" Tamrons or Sigmas.
Even if you would bring us HD-WR-versions of the FA-limiteds, itīs not enough.
With a FF-DSLR we NEED a full working mount for the old 20/24/28/35/50/55/100/120/135/200/300 ... while waiting for new FF-glass.

(sorry for my bad english)

With mirrorless cameras, I can do things with my Pentax M lenses that I can't do with my K30, including auto-ISO at non-wide open aperture, flash compensation, metering without pushing a button, and matrix metering. I'd really like it a lot if I could do some of these things in live mode, at least, on any Pentax DSLR. If not, the A7r is looking like my next camera.

nikon d7000 and d7100 (direct competision of k-5 and k-3) have a coupler. new lens have AF and better glass. My first dslr was the kx for the retro compatibility

Unfortunately, Ricoh/Pentax is "not prioritizing to reintroduce this function" according to the CP+ 2014 interview - badly disappointing.

I just discovered this thread after long time away from the forum, but even if this thread hasn't moved in several months, please count my vote in (probably just as a protest vote).

It simply makes no sense on producing "limited" (read: expensive!) glass with aperture rings, if NONE of the cameras can take advantage of such aperture ring...

Yes and no, respectively. I use Pentax manual focus lenses on my NEX-6 exclusively. FF altenatives include the a7 and a7S.
