Battery options for K10D

[Apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere on this forum...]

Is anyone using rechargeable penlight batteries with their K10D? The Australian Pentax website says this is a valid option to the dedicated battery-pack, and I'm wondering how the penlights are mounted within the compartment. Presumably there's a casing available that emulates the existing battery-pack, into which the penlights are slotted?

Anyone have experience with this?

Hi,I think you would have to use the "pro type battery grip" available on ebay. ROXSEN is one brand and their is OWNUSER also. Around AU$135.oo. It takes AA as well as L150.

To clarify, I'm referring to the battery compartment in the main body. That is, the battery-pack that comes standard with the body can apparently be substituted with two penlight batteries. However, the cavity for the existing pack is too large for two penlights to fit, so I'm assuming there must be a housing available into which you place the penlights, and then this housing - complete with batteries - acts as the substitute battery-pack in the main body of the camera.

... or am I just reading this info wrongly...?

I am pretty sure you cannot use AA or AAA batteries in the K10D. Are you sure you are not reading about the K100D? Do you have a link to this information?

K10D and AA batteries

The K10D battery, the LI-50, is a 7.4 volt battery. It would take five AA batteries in series to yield that voltage. There's no way you can fit five AA's, or even AAA's in the battery chamber of a K10D.

I suppose it would be possible to make an external battery grip that used five AA batteries, but I know of no manufacturer that does so. The Pentax grip certainly doesn't use AA's.

You must be thinking of the K100D or K100D Super.
