most hilarious feature of the K100D

This one had me laughing out loud. Seems I can change the icon that displays when in pet mode, from a profile of a dog to a cat. Never mind that neither the camera nor the manual gives me any hint of what pet mode is (or how it differs from child and sports modes).

Not at I've ever used these modes. But it would be more fun if I could change the icon to a parrot maybe.

I never knew that. I guess it is because I never really used the camera in any other mods besides M, Tv, Av mode.

That's hilarious. After almost 20k shots and a year and a half, I have yet to try any of the scene modes.

Anyone out there hacked the firmware? I could totally go for an iguana icon or something...

I was thinking the same thing

How about switching between boys and girls for the kids mode, surf and snow should give you the option of a surfboard or a sandcastle instead of the snowman, sunset should also give you the option of sunrise, and so on

Something about east and west. I've never really understood it.

Set the dial to SCN and then hit Fn to let you choose from additional modes. When you get to the cute little animal, use the control to choose between the icons.

I only found out because I read the manual cover to cover. Although I'm a newbie I've yet to use any of these modes and in fact am in manual more times than not.

Actually, given the way these modes are chosen it would have been much nicer to have only the one position on the dial with all the modes hidden in the Fn menu. Instead they are arbitrarily split between the two.

Apparently, the pet scene mode can make cats look more slender and majestic, and dogs look larger than life

Never even tried those gimmick modes...

Careful though, in dog mode the camera's SR attempts to wag its tail.
