K-x debug won't go away

I adjusted the AF on my K-x with the debug mode. Focus works well, but the camera keeps bringing up a screen that just says "DEBUG MODE". Did I do something wrong when I exited? If I go into the DEBUG MODE DISABLE menu, will I lose the AF adjustment I made?

No, you won't loose the AF Adjustment, it stays there once you have saved it. You need to disable Debug Mode once you have done the AF Adjust to regain normal camera behaviour. I keep a copy of the Modset file permanently on my SD card so I can always access the AF Adjust in the field if I need to.

What he said. Disabling debug mode will preserve your AF adjustments and get you in normal mode. I also keep a copy of the Modset file on my SD card.

Thanks guys, I disabled Debug. I like your idea of keeping the debug file on your memory card.

Yes, the debug file is useful. I thoroughly tested all my lenses (8 MF lenses, most of which have the "A" setting, and the DA 40mm--my only AF lens), and, I don't know, but all of them have quirks when it comes to focusing. In my experience, even MF lenses need focus adjustment, especially if one uses the Catch-in-focus function. Fortunately, most of my lenses need an adjustment between +10 and +30; however, my beautiful K 55mm/1.8 calls for a much more serious adjustment: +90!

I think correct focusing--more exactly, the beep and the green light signaling of correct focus--is dependent not only on the AF mechanism, but also on the construction of individual lens copies. (Perhaps there is more uniformity with modern lenses.) If someone can rely exclusively on his/ her eyes and is ready to ignore the sound and the luminous focus signal, the focus adjustment problem doesn't exist.

Hi there,

Is it possible to get to the debug screen without a card reader?

I've put the MODSET file into the root menu of my SDHC card, but I can only do this with the camera ON and connected to my computer via the USB cable.

If I turn the camera off, disconnect the camera from the computer, and then turn it back ON (whilst holding +/-AV) I don't get the debug screen.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
