I've had mine going on 4 years now, even if I do upgrade, there is no way I could give it up or put it away forever. My K100D with a Super Takumar on it can still make my T4i owning friend jealous, so it must not be too bad.

Love my K100D super for a "grab and go" camera. Works great for handheld low-light shots...better than K20D frankly.

When coupled with a nice manual 50mm, the richness of colours from the K100d are amazing

Do you mean at high ISO? If so, you must be comparing at different resolutions. DXOMark shows the K20D as half a stop better when normalized to 8mp, and that matches my experience (actually I would have said 2/3 stop).

PS DXO didn't test the K100D, but they tested the Nikon D40, which uses the same Sony sensor.

It could be the difference in the look of the noise more than the amount. I don't find the K100D's noise to be ugly until 3200 ISO, at 1600 ISO it definitely has noise, but I don't find it to be that unpleasant. I do apply a little NR in Darktable at 800 ISO and above, but I don't try to kill all of the noise.

It could be down to the lower resolution or maybe CCD vs CMOS, but really the K100D still gives good results at high ISO.

My first dslr. I sold it when I upgraded to the K20D but it was a great starter.

This thread has made me think. I still have my K100d, purchased right at the end of its production run, Friday, 13th, July, 2007. For just over two years it was my only DSLR. When I upgraded to the K20d, I kept it as a reserve body. It is still my reserve body but now plays second fiddle to a K5 and gets very little use.
Anyway, this thread has made me go through a series of images taken in 2007, one of which I include here.

Well I had to get it out and take a couple of indoor shots.

Out of all my DSLRs K100d is still my favourite It's with the wife now but i always always miss it. Not so with any other DSLR. The color that K100D raw files produce is just nice.
