I finally got my K10D! YAY!!

It finally came! I did have a little bit of a chance to play with it this afternoon and while in some ways, it is similar to the DS, it is also definitely different. I've already put the DS up for sale on the Marketplace:

If any of you are looking for an inexpensive body to convert to infrared, this one would be a good choice.

Anyway, I plan on getting to know the K10 over the next few days--as a matter of fact, I've scheduled next Friday off so I can go spend some extended time with it in a variety of settings to get more comfortable with it.

I just wanted to share the good news.

Yay, Heather! I'll second Canada Rockies above; the more I've shot my K10D, the more impressed I become and the more I'm tempted to try. My old Nikon digital and even my Spotmatic

had much lower limits for technical growth and image quality.

Congratulations. Great camera. Would hate to do without it. Didn't get rid of my DS though. It is back up camera and lowlight/don't want to take my camera into that situation machine (like kayak). Enjoy the new camera. It can do lots of things.

If I didn't take a day off, then I might not otherwise have time to play with it like I want to. Other than a few shots here and there (mostly for advertising items on the marketplace), I didn't have time to this past weekend. Counting Friday, it looks like I'll actually have 2 days this week to get to know it, as husband wants to go to either west coast (Cedar Key) or east coast (St. Augustine) on Saturday, assuming the weather cooperates.

That's the one nice thing about being in Florida--I'm only about an hour from the west coast and 2 hours from the east coast.

As for the lenses, if my husband wants to spend hundreds of $$$ on me, I'd much rather have him buy a neat new lens for me than jewelry, which would most likely go and sit in my jewelry box, where it would hardly ever make an appearance. The lens can be used frequently while engaging in an activity that I love.

I think it runs in the family, to a certain extent, as my mom has no problem getting a gift of a new power tool to play with (unlike me, she also likes the jewelry as well and actually wears more of it than I do).

Heather, enjoy the K10D, I wouldn't get rid of the DS, as I have both cameras with the DS used as a backup instead of changing lenses all the time in the field.
