Slingshot 200aw

Hey pentaxians - Im running around with a LowePro Slingshot 200aw & I am looking to see how others may have their back set up. I know these bags are 'beginner' bags & some people like them while others dont.

Right now Ive got the kit 18-55 on the body w/ the 55-300 & the 135mm prime in the main body of the bag. The 55mm, 50mm, & 28mm are all loose in the small upper portion of the bag. I guess I feel like the setup isnt 100% worthwhile...

thoughts??

I have the smaller 102 and its my main - take a lot of gear bag. I woukd be very uncomfortable with any lenses loose in the bag though.

The moveable compartments are nice in main body of the bag since it allows to adjust where you place things yet keeps it well padded. The 'loose' lenses in the small compartment arent all that loose. Ive got 3 in there laying side by side of each other and there isnt much space for them to bang around. Beyond that they are also lenses that Ive spent very minimal money on & relatively old.

Like Doc, I use the 102 for a K-7 kit and one for a K-5 kit. 55-300 in the top, 40/bulb blower and 50-200 surround camera in compartments while Crumpler strap surrounds K-5/18-55 as extra padding. It may not be a "pro" bag but both of mine go to school everyday archiving and documenting a k-8 school for digital/print and haven't missed a beat. Certainly fits under an airplane seat comfortably as well.

Would either of you mind taking pictures of your compartments?

Here are a couple quick shots with the Q. I was in the process of selecting gear for the holiday events so the main compartment is empty. The upper is used for flash gear these days - B&H TTL, Pentax AF16, and Cowboy Studios triggers plus a base plate and 4 pack of AAs. There is also an IR remote in the mesh pocket behind the flash. Hope this helps. I use the main T compartment for the K-5+18-135 combination with D-BG4 Grip. Each of the 4 main divisions will hold a 55-300 or two smaller lenses like my Limiteds with a foam rubber pad between the two lenses to protect each of them. Typically, if I am going whole hog I can carry the 55-300, Viv85, DA35, FA50, DA40 & DA70, K-Q adapter, plus have room in the last small rectangular compartment for the Q body. Extra batteries go in the front compartment along with the lens pen. If I need more space I use the SlipLock attachment points for any of 6 cases that I own that will work - I have two rectangular bags that will attach that are not padded, two P&S cases that will attach, and 2 different size lens cases that are Lowepro and several knockoffs that will work but are not as secure when attached. All-in-all it gives me a lot of flexibility and capacity in a relatively small package (until I start hanging all those sliplock bags on it )

Docrwm - Thanks a lot for posting those pictures. You definately helped me with a better layout to my bag. Compartmenting the bag doesnt leave me the ability to leave a lens on the body but thats okay because it gives me freedom to chose a lens.
