Todays top tip.

If you're using the K10's built in flash, don't wear a baseball cap!

It was my wife that pointed this out to me after I was getting increasingly p******d off because the flash would fire if I pointed the camera at the floor, but not when I was looking through the viewfinder. The peak was getting in front of the flash!

ha ha, I found out the same way that my cap was pushing the flash closed just enough that it wouldn't fire. Now I just turn it around backwards when I start shooting.

I swore like you wouldn't believe when I couldn't figure out what was going on when that happened to me. Fortunately, my wife has a better sense of observation than me and she figured out what was happening!

Same thing happened to me at the Super Moto races, i was trying to get a pic of Jeff Ward being interviewed, and for the life of me couldn't figure out why the $#%^&* flash wouldn't fire !! When I finally figured it out, I was laughing my butt off, lol

Same problem with the Nikon D2H Auto WB. The little sensor was being confused by hats etc.

Small world, eh

Haven't had the issue with the cap yet (I turn them around out of habit), but my thumb... man...

When I hold the camera in portrait mode (with the grip) and cradle the shorter lenses, my thumb, with a mind of its own, lifts out smack into the path of the flash. Ugh!

there is a lesson to be learned in all this, use external flash. The cap will hit the flash and remind you to take the thing off

I didn't even think you could wear your hat the right way and still look through the viewfinder! I alway turn my hat around.... Oh yeah, hood+popup flash=bad shadow. Reason #122929292 to get an external hot shoe flash....

Always turn my hat around. But, there must be a hidden message in this image - jealousy maybe!

That's not from a baseball cap - if it was it would be in the TOP part of the frame. That's from the lens blocking the flash. And the reason it's on the BOTTOM part of the frame.
