3 is showing up in viewfinder?

I have a K100D Super, and I'm trying to figure out something I'm seeing in the viewfinder. When I press the shutter button, I see a 3 (it is also on the top LCD screen) It's just to the left of the SR hand indicator, where the frame counter/EV indicator is.

I haven't been able to find what the 3 indicates, and it comes up in every mode when the shutter is half pressed (I have the AF moved to the Ok button).

Can anyone tell me what it means?

I beleive it means that if you hold the button down you will be able to take 3 shots, such is the pathetic buffer built into that camera. My istDs, a much older but comparable camera, shows an 8. This is turn off-able in the menu somewhere, on mine anyway.

I wouldn't say pathetic. It's a $300 DSLR with stunning image quality. Your *ist didn't cost that, did it?

It's on custom menu under "Dsply no recdble imgs" or something like that.

It displays a 3 when shooting JPEG, yet with a Sandisk Ultra II I cant get 4 shots in sucession at 2.7fps, then about 1fps after that. If you need more camera get a K10/20D!

The camera isn't pathetic, the buffer is.

"Your *ist didn't cost that, did it?" No it cost way more, but the photos I took in the meantime are worth wayyyyy more.

yeah, as was said above, that's the number of shots remaining before you fill the buffer.
You can change it to show the number of recordable images left on the memory card if you wish.

Or it won't show up at all if you're in manual mode, it will only show you how far off the meter thinks you are with your settings.
