K-5 Hoya vs Ricoh

I'm looking to buy a K-5 soon as i just sold my K20. Are there any differences between the Hoya era K-5's and the Pentax Ricoh imaging K-5's and does anyone know which type is offered new from Adaroma? Not reffering to the II or IIs.

Yes, there's a different sticker underneath. But I bet you already knew that! Adorama got their last shipment in late 2012, so they've probably got the Pentax Ricoh stickers.

The known issues of the K-5 include stains, release button falling off, and mirror flop.

The stains were fixed fairly quickly, and are pretty much guaranteed to be fixed in a Ricoh K-5, and may only be a problem on the earliest Hoya units.

The other problems... I'm not sure that buying a later model fixes these, but if they knew how to fix these problems during the production of the faulty parts, then they probably would have, so it is possible that later batches are better.

But I doubt you'll get a definitive answer.

Mine was bought in November and it has a Ricoh sticker on the body, some things in the box like the charger had a Hoya sticker.

So its not a quality control thing. The k5s are likely all built the same, in the same plants with likely the same managers?

I bought a new Ricoh labelled K-5 May 2012 and it hasn't suffered any of the problems reported...as of yet.
