I hate to burst your bubble but the 645 is pretty well dead now too.
PentaxForums reviewed it agaisnt the cheaper D800 and the D800 won!
Pentax is no longer the choice brand for professionals and they seem to have given up trying to be.

Sorry to appear so negative - I'm just frustrated that after following pentax for 20+yrs and investing 3k in the last year that they're not trying to keep up.
I dont want to become a Canon or Nikon "guy" but there's not much choice at the mo.
Used to be a Saab owner so I guess I'm just unlucky

Fingers crossed eh

Kempy

You now have 3 posts on our forum; 2 of which are bashing Pentax for multiple issues, with this last one being a bit rude to the member you are replying to.
Just an observation..........

I'm seriously starting to question my choice of camera as Pentax general attitude towards software seems to be able to suck a golf ball through a garden hose.

Apart from the lack of tethering there is still no RAW codec for 64 bit Windows, leaving Pentax in the dark ages and their costumers to pay extra money to third parties to be able to browse images in Windows. And today I tried to download the software pack for the camera, but it turns out that they only offer an upgrade to exixting installations online.

Get your act together, Pentax or release the codes to the (remnaining) dedicated community so that it can do it themselves.

It's a useful feature and it's time for Pentax to support it!

There is an x64 bit Windows Raw Codec, if you use Windows 7.
Pentax (PEF formats only): *ist D, *ist DL, *ist DS, K10D, K20D, K100D, K100D Super, K110D, K200D, K-01, K-5, K-7, K-r, K-x
Choose the MicrosoftCameraCodecPack-x64.msi from the link below:
Download Microsoft Camera Codec Pack (6.3.9721.0) from Official Microsoft Download Center

I'm on Win 8.1, but personally i use ACDSee Pro for all my Photo Editing and viewing.

Not all of us have that kind of money laying around. I'm one of them. On a fixed income it's hard to pay that much per year when you only get a little bit and have to eat and pay bills with it.

I'm on fixed income too but eat less to enjoy more! It is all about priorities- cell phones, cable? But really, if photography is your hobby, you are missing out by not using Lightroom/PS. And it has never been this cheap.

I found a RAW codec but the previews were sooooo slow that I removed it.
I always shoot RAW+ so I've the jpgs for previews.

Tethering would be nice. Being able to see the view live on my ipad would be nicer! Can't cart a monitor around, and ipad is portable....
