I had to shoot a group of about 20 for our school yearbook and it wasnt too hard:

If its a really bright day (hopefully), put the group of people in the shade. I was lucky because there was a courtyard with steps, that was all in the shade. It was still bright, but not excessively. I did not even need a fill flash, and the picture came out perfectly exposed.
You probally know this, but remember to use a large f-stop, so there aren't focusing issues. (Ive forgotton this too many times

Just before you press the shutter, tell everybody to shut their eyes and open them on the count of three, then push the button at four. That way, everybodies eyes should be open...

Don't go any wider than you possibly can. If you go too wide, the people on the edges will be unflatteringly distorted. At 24mm on full frame, you add about 30 pounds (15 Kg, 2 stone) to people near the frame edges. They do not appreciate the humour in the shot, believe me.

Hey guys thanks for the info... Im going to be incorporating all the techniques mentioned... and hopefully everything goes well... I will post up some results if I can. Once again thanks a lot guys...
