She didn't understand

Wife asks me recently, "What are you reading about?"
"New Pentax camera coming out. Sounds pretty nice."
"So what's better on it than on yours?"
So I tell her a few features and she interrupts me with
"Hold on. Your telling me it has a sea moss sensor? How much use
are you going to get outta that?"
Took me a while before I could continue the discussion...

dbh, I trust she didn't hit you tooo hard for laughing. Or worse still, deny you further funds for purchases.

How did you know she said Sea Moss and not CMOS? Were you speaking to her and was she sending you text messages?

You have no idea how funny she would find your question.
But, no, she had heard me alright. She just thought I meant something completely different and yet plausible in a bizarre way. Sometimes jargon and acronyms can mislead with humourous consequences. This time it was completely innocent and too funny not to tell someone.

Where is he when we need him?

Don't you wish, sometimes, that you could photograph some of the alternative imagery that comes to mind when we mishear/misunderstand something that's said to us? Dynamic range? I bet you have to be quick to cook on that! Dr. Seuss, we need you in the Pentax R&D labs!

So the Sea Moss camera is weather sealed and shoots best underwater? I told my wife about it as well and told her I was getting a case of GAS. She asked me to take it outside until I explained GAS stood for 'gear acquisition syndrome'. Jargon can get us sleeping on the sofa.
