Test k20d Shots

I got the k20d yesterday and I put it to real test today.

Since photoshop CS3 is not compatible with k20d RAW format, I shot all the images in straight Jpegs. Really great fun with this camera. I edit all my shots and the editing is really a lot easier since k20d really has a great dynamic range!

Since this is my first time using k20d, I use it as a back up for the shooting today.

I predominantly use Fa* 24 for the shots.

FE 10-17

f2.4

I deliberately added noise to the image since smooth picture looks dull...

I found macro particularly difficult with macros. The metering with A 200mm f4 macro is rather difficult, at least 2 stop underexposing! (Now this is different comparing to k10d that often overexposes by at least a stop)

Eventhough ISO 1600 is usable and improved. I still go for ISO 800 in which it performs very well with very low noise - my new ISO 400

Autofocus is great with Da* 16-50 but sitll back focusing under low light. SDM in deed makes it a very fast lens comparing to k10d.

However, FA autofocus is unchanged and really lags behind in a fast paced day of events.

I could only process a few shots since it is already late and I am heading to sleep for another early morning shift tomorrow.

Woa. Huge amount of purple fringing in the 3rd shot. To be honest, with all the post processing that has been done to these shots it is difficult to tell the quality of the camera.

Can you use the K20d's focus adjust to eliminate the backfocusing of the 16-50?

Shoot in RAW DNG & can edit in PS CS3.
