First K10D SR photo

Hi,

Here's the first photo I took with my K10D. It was just an "okay, the battery is charged, now what?" type of thing. I put the camera in "P" mode, sat on the floor, braced my elbows against my knees and pressed the shutter button. In the excitement of checking to make sure the camera actually worked I didn't even bother to check what the shutter speed was. I think my jaw hit the floor when I hit the info button and saw 1/2 second. Yes, I know it's not the steadiest shot ever. I also know what a 1/2 second exposure with my istDS would look like no matter how well I tried to brace myself. It appears the Pentax implementation of SR is effective no matter what some recent advertising says.

BTW, his name is Chopin.

Half second, hand held? Wow....

It gave me goose bumps reading your story. I hope to take my first picture with a K10D soon. Seeing Chopin just got me closer to making the purchase.

Thanks

Hi,

I should have given a few more details. The lens was a Tamron 28-300di at 63mm and f4.5. It was taken in RAW(pef) and converted to jpeg with Pentax Photo Browser with all settings at default. Then resized for attaching. No other adjustments even though the white balance could sure use it.

Hello, Chopin! I've had a few of those jaw dropper-type shots too, but only when I'm not thinking about it. I do have a tendency to flinch and blow them when I let one with a ridiculous exposure time go through.

Hi,

Chopin is a Shih Tzu and he says hi to Beth (and everybody else), too.

That was a big plus for me on the K10 SR. Will most likely gravitate toward a monopod at minimum for low light as hand shake is very annoying for photography and drinking hot tea.
