I have one without the OS and I think it's a really good performing lens compared to its price, as long as there is enough light when you shoot.
The only issues is the need for enough light to not bump ISO too high as it is a slow lens, the slightly too tight zoom ring and that the zoom creeps when pointing the the lens upwards or downwards. The image quality is quite good but to shoot with such a long lens craves good technique.
