K20D vs K10D: WB colour accuracy

Over on Clubsnap, a fellow Pentax user has kindly submitted some comparison images of the superior colour fidelity of the K20D using Auto WB against a GretagMacbeth colour checker under fluorescent and tungsten lighting. The difference is quite remarkable. Thumbs up for the K20D.

I would second that.

So far I've seen a number of K20D JPEG low-light city shots made under difficult lighting (low-pressure sodium street lamps and neon lights) with AWB set.

Looks natural, without the excessive Orange cast often seen with the K10D AWB.

The other side of the Auto White Balance trade-off, which I haven't seen, is how does the K20D handle sunsets / sunrise ?

In deed, the WB in k10d is always not so reliable. K20d is definitely better than k10d especially under tungstun lighting.

I don't find the difference is "remarkable" although the K20D's result seems slightly better.

Do note also that the default color mode of the K10D is "Natural" whilst as for the K20D, it is "Bright". So, there should always be a difference - which should be seen.

Under fluorescent light, yes, there is an improvement. As for the tungsten light example, I don't see much difference; neither camera is coping that well with it.
