Why not? We've already got *ist DL shots, so bring on the DS shots, too (If Colton says ok )

Fine with me.
Let's try and stick to the *ist series though.
Hopefully more *istD users will chime in.

Winner! Chicken dinner!

Pretty close.

It is indeed a magnet, with filings.

But it was inside the back rear differential housing on a class 8 semi truck tandem drive that I worked on. They also have magnetic drain plugs, but also a magnet about 1" x 3" glued inside the housing.

The driver tore up the center sections after a few too many miles of abuse, and I got the pleasure of removing the gearsets, cleaning the housings and installing freshly rebuilt gear sets.

When I looked inside the housing after removing the gearset and saw this, I just had to take a picture, so I grabbed my camera and took a few shots.

This is what the drive axle setup looks like:

Big stuff.

Nice work. I've often been a bit intrigued by the *istDS and DS2.

Here's one of my alltime favorite *istD shots. This was shot handheld with a Panagor 55/2.8 macro and an AF360fgz flash (shoe mounted) with a Lumiquest bounce attached.

I think so, but can't be certain.

There were quite a few of them at the Grand Prix this year as part of the Historics day they did.

There's a few more images from the day in here:
Australian Grand Prix 2013 - a set on Flickr

I still have a few other images from the day that I haven't uploaded yet. I really need to get around to doing that.
