More nice work Ash.

Here's another of mine. This was originally shot just to see how my SMC Takumar 50/1.4 performed wide open. I think the lens and the *istD performed superbly.

I've dubbed *istD "The little DSLR that could".

Colors from +istD series are just great, and when coupled with good lenses, it is still really capable camera. Great shots ash and swift1!

'edit, my *istDS has a serious problem with hotpixels, but in good light it is just fine, small wonder and can take ISO 800 like nothing. Wish I could say the same with my K-7.'

My *ist D was an ex-pro's workhorse camera, shooting over 80,000 actuations before getting into my hands, and I clicked another 10,000 or so before passing it on myself.
The feel of the camera, its operation and the marrying of D-BG1 to it was just excellent. Not a hitch nor a bad pixel. A touch of dust that wouldn't clear but little else negative to say about it.

It really is the little dSLR that could.

I get hot pixels on my *istD usually with long shutter speeds. I've done a bit of IR shooting with mine (unmodified) and I usually get quite a few.

Here's one from 2011

Pentax *istD, SMC Pentax-FA 43/1.9 Ltd.

A recent shot from last month - wife & kids at the pond using the DA L 50-200.
My *istD is still going strong with about 24k clicks

Here's an IR photo I shot last year using my unmodified *istD and the 18-55 II lens.

Looks great!

So how does one shoot IR with an unmodified digital camera?

Thanks.
The sensor in all the *istD cameras as well as the K100D series have pretty weak IR blocking filters, so if you put an IR filter on the lens, you can get pretty decent shots.
Since the camera is unmodified, you pretty much have to use a tripod. I get about a 1 second exposure at f/8 and iso 200 on a bright sunny day.
AF becomes useless and you have to do some focus bracketing to get proper focus.
