Sigma 28-90 Macro
Nice work. I'd love to see some photos of your Anniversary model!

When I bought my used *istD a few years ago, it came with the same Sigma (Quantaray) 28-90 macro as you have. Pretty nice all-around lens with a fun 'macro' (1:2) mode. I use mine quite a bit. Here's a shot taken with that combo (xposted from elsewhere in the forums):

Questions for *istD owners

Hi everybody,
I enjoyed looking at the pictures very much and quite surpriced by the IQ on some...
I have the chance to get a body in good condition for a very good price. But I am wondering what is the best way to power this non-proprietary-battery camera?
I searched and read a lot and the main reason I care is for improved AF speed with better batteries. Also, Lithium ones seem lighter and last longer but are also very expensive. From what I´ve read:
- Some are in favour of "hybrid" rechargable AA batteries such as Eneloops, Sony Cycle, Ray o Vac Hybrid, etc. But it´s a mixed bag of experiences for each user.
- Others say Lithium disposable batteries are the only ones that work as expected / reliable.
- "RCR-V3" batteries are tempting but difficult to find and dangerous to the camera if they are not "regulated". This one seems good and not so expensive for example: Amazon.com: 2 Lithium-Ion Battery&Charger for Kodak CR-V3 CRV3: Camera & Photo

So, anyone has any experience with this kind of batteries? Which are the ones that work for you?

PS: Now I realize I am perhaps highjacking the thread, I´ll make a new one if OP finds it suitable.

Thanks everyone,
Francisco

Nimh - Eneloops .... LSD technology ( genuine eneloops should work fine )
Im also using Turnigy LSD ( nimh ) from hobby king dot com ...

My istD pictured is some what voltage sensitive , dont like Lithium at all ... ( Like the Turnigy LSD though )

Quantaray 28-90

Liked those photos posted recently using the Qantaray 28-90, so took a look on e-bay and found a seller with 10 new ones with PK mount for $69.98 including shipping. He's keeping the lens caps at that price, but seems he was able to buy them from Ritz as they were going under. Should get mine next Tuesday.

Huh?

Lens caps are cheap, so why would a seller hold them back simply because he was giving a low price on a lens?

Taken this morning using an *istD & a manual-focus Image 28mm/2.8:

and a little wider view. I'm not sure what type of plant this is, but I found it interesting.

Paul,

The istD and 28mm are working well together. That is sumac (not poison sumac). The ripe red seeds can be used to make a lemonade kind of drink, or as a lemon-like spice.

Thanks, Joe for the comment & the info! These are very common around these parts, and I like the way the leaves turn a deep red during the Fall.
