Why have you all started using the k-7 again?

I've just noticed that the usage graph for the k-7 on flickr shows that all of a sudden a lot more k-7 shots are being uploaded.

Must be the nice weather I guess?

I have the K7 for a few years already and still use it reguarly for landscape and portrait.
While it doesn't have the high ISO handling of the K5 and(II and IIs), it does produce very decent pictures as long as you keep the ISO down.
Coupled with good glass, it is a very good camera.

Spring is around as well !

I guess people have sold their K5s when the price is still good, and are waiting for the new camera to come. So the K7s on the shelf are now loaded again.
Interesting finding! Never used this function before.

So folk like yourself can notice a peak in the graph.

I'm thinking it's more likely just pure chance.

I would say people had purchased K5s and sold their K7s to folks who actually were shooting with them.

Spot on! I sold mine to someone who is using it and now I have a K5 collecting dust instead of a K7. If there's a Pentax FF I'll have one of them collecting dust instead of my K5

Nearly twice as many people still use the Nikon D40 as use the K-5...nearly as many use the even older D50.

I too guess that many that had a K-7 just laying around or as a backup lately sold them as newer cameras have fallen in price.

At low ISO, the K-7 is a great camera. I have both a K-7 and K-01 (same sensor as K-5 and co), and I prefer to shoot with the K-7 in many situations.

What's wrong with a K-7? A great body handling, ruged camera, a superb viewfinder, WR, .... All these were re-used without alteration in the K-5, K-5ii and K-5iis. There is obviously nothing wrong with the K-7....

Nothing wrong with the k-7, it's my only camera

I wouldn't get another if it broke, but hopefully it will last a good while yet so there will be plenty of k-5s for me to buy second-hand when the time comes!

Good to see, My K7 will stay with me a while yet, infact a new K-01 will keep it in action covering the things its not quite good as (High ISO, Super Compact, Movies) but being used for things it is great for - Twin Dials and general flexibility, Use in Extreme conditions with WR, Ergonomics with long lenses. It could very well be the perfect camera to buy for someone starting out, its what I got

I never stopped using the K-7. Bought it in May of 2010, works as well today as it did the day I got it. No point in fixin' what ain't broke!

There are 3 types of lies. There's Lies, Damn Lies and Statistics.

I've got 20-odd thousand clicks on my K-7 but only 3 of them posted in my flickr since I've only put shots up from 2013. I'm not representative of the sample.

I'm Still using the K-7 but only really when going out with dual bodies.

I'm also planning on using it for experimenting with things like timelapse when the shutter count would be high,
or maybe if shooting something slightly more "risky" to the body (not risque)

I bought a K-7 last month off e-bay and I am loving it. My previous camera was a film-based ZX-M, but all the dials are right where I need them to be and my old lenses still fit, not that they wouldn't a K-5 or whatever. I like 100 ISO, so I don't even know what you guys are talking about when there is mention of higher ISO sensitivity. I know my pics are grainy at 6400 ISO. Are they less grainy on a K-5 at 6400? (That is a sincere question. I really don't know as I don't have a K-5 to compare to.) Personally I would rather spend the upgrade-money on a faster lens and never have to find out. And because it's a Pentax, if I buy a lens that works brilliantly on my K-7, it will also be just as great and functional on a K-3- or whatever they call the next one coming down the pike.

I don't like to link to the other site...but it does have a good comparison tool.

Pentax K-5 In-depth Review: Digital Photography Review

Just select 6400 from the popup and click set. Then select up to 3 other cameras to compare.
