K20D - What's not in the manual

Here's two things I've learned that I didnt see in the manual:
1) When you turn the camera off the number of shots available on the SD card is displayed in the top LCD.
2) The Dust Alert menu is not enabled when a K mount lens is attached.

Any one else learn some things the hard way?

Pete

If you face due east on the first day of every month at 10:00 AM and take off one sock while singing "I love Rock and Roll". You win a massive contract to shoot all of the Ad Campaigns for a Huge Client for 2 years...

Just figured that out without reading the manual.

How long after you turn the camera off is that displayed?

What good is the dust alert menu if it doesn't work with a k-mount lens attached?

Joan Jett's version, or the Arrows original version?

Or do we need to do the Britney Spears one to get the contract? I'm only willing to prostitute myself so far.

No...really far. Just ask my ex wives...

Yes, Manual p. 119 (Burst Shooting) says:
QuoteQuote:
The JPEG Quality set in the [Camera Rec. Mode] menu is used.
QuoteQuote:
Pictures are taken continuously while the shutter release button is fully pressed until the camera buffer memory is full (JPEG Quality ***: maximum of approximately 115 pictures).
This would imply that many more images can be shot at a lower quality setting (and fewer at **** setting).

This isn't true, though. The camera always shoots 117 images regardless of JPG quality.

Just for a fraction of a second. (1/250th??)

I'm guessing that it's disabled since it cant control the aperature and overexpose an image. Dont know how the whole thing works...how can it determine dust on sensor vs. dust on lens??

Hi Ben

As for your latest eccentricities:

I'm afraid these are just mere words, dear boy. The assembled members of PentaxForums.com want incontrovertible photographic PROOF of this extraordinary event ! And more to the point, do you remove your left or your right sock ?
Such matters could be of great scientific significance, for all we know ! Pray tell all.......

Best regards,
Richard

Sorry, I should have been more precise. The left foot, like the film...

These specific socks would guarantee that your wishes would be fullfilled.

I played with Dust Alert for the first time tonight and noticed that it only works when the camera is in autofocus mode.

It is disabled (grayed-out in the menu screen) when the camera is set to Manual Focus mode.

So, if you're using a manual focus lens, just switch to AF and give it a try. I haven't attempted it yet myself, but I suspect that it'll work fine.
