Does anyone out there know if my k-5 II is compatible with the Yongnuo YN-560 II speedflash? The one I'm looking at on amazon is advertised for Canon and Nikon but does it really mean for those specific camera brands or is that just how they are marketing them?

Yongnuo 560-II is a manual flash, which means the only pin that comes in contact with the camera is the central one, that triggers it. All metering and light adjustment will be done manually by the photographer.
That is to say, yes, it is also compatible with Pentax cameras, and all other cameras with hotshoes except Sony/Minolta, which have a proprietary hotshoe and therefore need a special flash.
