owner's name change in the K10D

I bought my K10d used, and I still see the owners name in the exif of my pictures. Is there a way to change the owner's name?

Thanks

You can do that? Dang, that makes copyrighting an image a little easier...

Add me to the list of those who were not aware that this was even possible. I add all of this info to my photos in post-processing.

Are you sure this is happening in the camera?

I'd sure like to know how to do that with both the K100D, and the Sigma SD14

That would sure make copyrighting easier.

Is this after you import it into Pentax Browser? If so, the change can be made in the browser. You might be able to change it in the browser even if that is not where it is designated. I use Lightroom, and there is a whole copyright section that you can set to default when the image is imported from the camera.

Hi guys,

It's after I import it on to Lightroom.

I know you can do this with the Canon models, and I thought you can do the same with the pentax bodies, but I just don't know where. Unless that www.marszifheifhcino.com is normal???

That link is broken Spaceguy,
Here's the real one.

If you can understand whatever language the site is in it might be a good place for an answer.

If not why not just write to the owner, if you bought it from them off this board or another one.

Please be sure to post the answer.

A friend of mine is looking into programing his own versions of firmware. I wonder if I can get him to program that data in as well

Someone has likely flashed it with modified firmware, see:
pentax-faq blog - archiwum

Just install firmware upgrade from the Pentax site and it should revert to normal.

Interesting. It's somehow replacing the camera make with a personal entry. Since there is no simple/known way to do that within the Pentax camera, I agree with the others suggesting the computer software (in this case, Lightroom). Look carefully through your Lightroom preference menus for anything matching that URL and delete it. If you can't find it, delete the Lightroom preference files outright. In the process, replace/reinstall the camera's firmware.

Afterwards, if none of above worked, I would be looking into the possibility that someone has hacked into the computer's files. This URL alone is certainly not proof of that, but any unusual behavior such as this deserves further investigation. Checking for spyware/virus activity is a good place to start with that investigation.

Yes, the link was to a page in Polish. It looks like this site has firmware with Polish menu options. I do not have K10D so I do not know, but if Polish is not one of the standard languages, then the firmware is most likely hacked. That would explain the link in EXIF info. I guess hacker left his/hers signature.

If you need anything translated from Polish, let me know :-)

Now I'm really confused. What did you buy used from the other fellow--the camera, or the camera + the software? Even if you bought the software, too, you'd almost have to have purchased his computer, too, because the metadata prefs must be stored in a prefs file somewhere, not in the app.
