I love my Pentax DA 16-45mm. Doesn't sound that glamorous but my particular lens is crystal clear and absolutely perfect for my uses.
I have to echo these words, as I feel the same.

The 16-45 is not a fast lens, but it's fast enough outdoors for most needs, and it is very sharp.

They're selling for about $370 now at Adorama. 21507 Pentax SMCP-DA 16mm - 45mm f/4.0 ED-AL Autofocus Zoom Lens for Digital SLRs - U.S.A.
I paid $409 for mine at B&H in October.
Unless you must have the f2.8 aperture and the weather sealing of the DA16-50, I would recommend this lens to anybody.

For non-Pentax, I love my Canon 85mm 1.8 - sharp and very fast with great bokeh.

Mike

If you are really into landscape photography, the DA 12-24/4 is a great lens. I suspect I will be using it more and more as time goes into the summer hiking season here in the Rocky Mountains. The 16-50 just does not go wide enough for some of the places I get into. I can see going out with the 12-24 mounted, and no other lenses, along with my polarizer just in case.

PS - there is one shot on my Flickr site taken with the 12-24, wide open at 12mm, indoors. Probably the worst thing you can try with a lens like that, but it worked.

let me know what your favorite lens is, the manufacture and why you like it so much.. Need to get user responses. You can check the reveiws but they can be so technical. I want real opinions..

I don't have any pentax yet but I have always had fun with prime lenses with fast aperatures. I had a 50mm 1.4 for a canon once and it was BRIGHT!!!! so fun.
