I see there is a Tv next to the P.
I tried watching it, but nothing on...maybe it's pay for view ?
It probably doesn't work very well soaked in P.

Av most of the time. I shoot M when using flash (flash is always set to manual mode anyway) or when the light is too dim.

Go Tv!

Damn, my favorite exposure mode is losing.

I usually use Tv for wideangle people shots, Av for pictures of static scenes and TAv for telephoto shots of sports etc.
M or X for flash photography.

Hyper program is great though. It's so easy to flick between Tv and Av.

--Anders.

Av mode, followed by M when it is necessary.

In Av, I set my front wheel to control the aperture and back wheel to control the ISO. I change ISO frequently to get better shutter speeds as the light changes slightly. I almost never use EV compensation. Somehow, I feel I should be.

I never use TAv mode. I don't see the point, really. If I want to set the shutter speed, I use M. I like to control the ISO speed to reduce the noise as much as possible. I've never been in a situation where I needed Tv. I never shoot fast moving things, I guess.

When I first got my K-5 IIs, I used Sv mode. I really liked it. It's really a cool mode, although once you understand things better there's not much use for it. I always thought of it as P mode without the program I'd always forget to change after I fumbled with it.

Av mode with Ev comp on the front dial, Auto ISO and faster shutter priority program line 95% of the time.
I'll switch to M for in difficult lighting if I want consistent consecutive exposures.
Prior to the K-3, M or X mode for P-TTL flash. With the K-3, I can get away with Av and Auto ISO when using P-TTL much more if I want since the flash protocols have changed significantly.

I do take much flash pics and M just gives best results and control. In Landscapes, my second most taken pics type, M is also mode i like most to use if lightning not change all time cos of cloudes, other good choise is Av and B with night/ND filters. Tv get little use sometimes. Other modes i not use i think.

Nothing wrong with that. You still have Av the moment you turn the rear wheel or Tv on the front wheel of you feel the need.

I do prefer Av most of the time to have control of DoF, TAv in low light to keep the shutter speed down.

Doh?! I have a friend who shoots in full auto who captures fantastic photos because he can see the shots. I know a LOT of people who claim to shoot in manual mode ONLY but their photos are terrible.

It's not about the exposure. It's where you aim it.

I use P, M when in the studio. With hyperprogram, I wonder why would anyone want to use Av or Tv? I never understood that.

TAv is what I use most often by far.

However when the camera is just standing by or I'm just carrying it around I keep the camera on P with auto ISO so if I spot something that needs to be shot quickly to capture the moment I get the best chance of a good exposure. In less hurried situations where I can actually stop and think I usually switch to TAv for moving subjects or M for static ones.

So while the mode dial spends most time in P I actually shoot very few photos with it.

As for AF it is almost always in in AF.C with focus tracking using vcentre point to start and all points available for tracking. The AF on the shutter half press is always turned off with the AF button used for focus.

Manual all the time, exposure and focusing. I have the belief that if my shot is overexposed or underexposed, I wasn't meant to get the shot. I like to learn things the hard way though - I'm sure I've missed a lot of opportunities but have learned from it and always make sure to check my settings beforehand
