If not using flash, Av for the DOF control. If using flash, M because all of my flashes are themselves manual only. Every now and then I'll also use TAv but that's a distant third place compared to the quantity of time I spend in Av and M.

I use manual all the time because it's so easy. I generally set my ISO as low as I can get away with and still have a reasonable shutter speed and the aperture I want.

I see you are from the Emerald City. I have a little slice of Paradise between Arlington and the Beautiful Cascade Mountains.

I am Tom, and the last time my camera was on P mode was 7 months ago. I was brave for a while but had to change to M in a few minutes.

I don't really know which mode I use most. I often use Hyper-P and Hyper-M, but also Av and TAv. Bulb a few times, but I don't think I ever used X, green and Sv modes. I tend to use the mode that gives full control over exposure without having to manually set exposure between each shot.

IMO manual mode don't give more control over exposure, it just might make you change exposure settings manually more often than neccesary, but with semi-automatic modes you would end up with same exposure setting with less effort. As long as you can see exposure settings in OVF you are just as much in control with semi-automatic modes as in manual mode. You just need to know when each mode is best used.

- Hyper-P is my default mode I use when I don't know exactly what I will be shooting, as it make it quick to switch between Hyper-Av and Hyper-Tv.
- Hyper-M is used in difficult lighting condition where the automatic exposure will mess up things. I also often use Hyper-M with green button instead of AE-lock as the exposure will be permanently locked till the next time I press green button or change exposure manually. Also often used with flash.
- Av mostly for landscapes or other situations where I only need to control DOF.
- TAv whenever I want to control both aperture and shutter speed but need automatic exposure for speed.

Not a club--a movement! The International Brother and Sisterhood of the Clueless! We could have signs and bumper-stickers--a website, and a Facebook page. We could send out spam e-mails asking for donations and people could follow us on Twitter (if we could only figure out what earthy purpose that would serve.)
