K20D Action Shots

I went to the skate park with the sole purpose of testing the K20D with the DA* 50-135. I was looking for focus speed, tracking & accuracy. I have to say that that the images I came home with were better than expected. While 3 FPS is just not fast enough to shoot this type of action, the images I got were sharp. I was pleasantly surprised.
I went to the same park a few weeks ago with my Canon 40D & 70-200 F2.8 combo and got really good results so I had to give it a try with my Pentax gear ;-)

Below are a few of my favorites, these were shot in RAW & converted to JPEG in Lightroom 1.4. I did some cropping & minor sharpening as well.

Isn't that a sweet lens? Good work on the action sequences, too!

So more or less or same number of keepers from K20D as compared to 40D?

Yep, that is a sweet lens. all of these shots were at F4 and F2.8 and these guys were moving fast. I was really pleased with the focus tracking ability of the lens/camera.

Not sure if I would say that ;-) I mean you gotta give the 40D credit, at 6.5 FPS and accurate focus tracking it handles this type of shooting really well. But the K20D/DA* combo did really well too, it maintained focus better than I had expected. The next time I go I will take both bodies and do some comparisons under the same lighting & with the same skaters.
I will post a link to some more shots taken with both cameras later today.

Yeah, this guy spent a lot of time falling down but he never stopped trying.

I can't tell which are the 20D & 40D shots, I guess it shows the K20D does a great job with action.
Apart from the 40D's higher FPS, was there much differnce in your opinion.
