Extremely difficult concert shoot with my KX

Hi guys,

I just had an extremely difficult shoot with my KX and DA* 50-135mm, DA* 16-50mm, FA 35mm F2.4. I shot the 80's band Bow Wow Wow at Studio Seven in Seattle where the lights were all LED and the venue was DARK. I was shooting from ISO 5,000 to ISO 10,000 at 1/100 and F2.8. As much as I want to upgrade my humble KX, it has never let me down. I can always count on publishable images from that little guy.

Those are great shots. My K-x is going very strong too. I'm waiting for something groundbreaking from Pentax in next 2 years for upgrade.

I loved my KX also, but recently upgraded to the K30 (3 months now). It is everything the KX is and more. The high ISO is a bit better, and TAv is really wonderful for low light work. Keep your aperture and shutter speed set, and let ISO float. Better resolution for cropping. The viewfinder is also a nice upgrade, along with higher FPS, and I really appreciate the built in electronic level. Add in WR, and it's perfect for me!

At current fire-sale prices for K30's, the time to upgrade is NOW!

Yep, thanks guys. I love shooting shows.

I do think the K30 would be awesome. Not sure if the K5II would be better for me or not. I'll buy something next year some time.

Not FF but a high end APS-C with better AF, focus tracking.

Great band shots, especially given the dim lighting.
The K-x is a tried-and-true little cam most anywhere, especially in the right hands.

Nice work, there! I've shot a couple of concerts with my K-x & was very pleased with how well it did in tough lighting conditions. It's a great camera that's never let me down. I haven't felt the pangs of upgrade fever yet.
