For me, my favorite walk around kit is the 18-135 and a Sigma 30mm/1.4 for low light. I also usually add my 15Ltd just because. Light, ready for anything, WR, great IQ.

Just received my camera today! Went for the k-50 in the end with the 18-135mm lens and also have an old manual SMC-A lens (50mm F/1.4). cant wait to put it to good use.

im from Cyprus (small island in the mediterranean) and there is a store here that had an offer on the k-30 and k-50 only until the 10th August. they had something like 20-25% discount on all Pentax models. I went for the k-50 + 18-135 kit and bought it for 749 Euros. Now the same combo is 949 Euros (and 670 Euros for k-50 with 18-55). The store's name is egalaxy and its a European branch with stores in UK, France and maybe a few other countries. However UK and France have run out of pentax models at the moment. If you're from Europe it might be worth checking it out and emailing them.

IMO for starter 18-135WR is better, it's a all-around lens for general/home use, good for taking scenery and simple portrait stuff, for a more seasoned person swapping lens is the way to go.

Push the limits...

I've had a K30 for a year and love it and according to Snapsort the low light performance is actuall better than the K50. Sure the K50 has a higher ISO range but how often do any of us go beyond 1000??. As for the lenses, I've an 18-55 on my old K10 and a 18-135 on the K30 and there's no comparison.
The 18-55 is handy as its light and worthless but it lives on my spare camera because I dont care what happens to it!!
The 18-135 out performs it at all focal lengths and apertures and has greater reach making it an ideal walkabout lens... Just been to Cyrpus and I only took the 18-135 with me and left my 50-200WR and 55-300DA at home. I think that says it all!!
