A while ago, I posted a parting thread to my K100d including my favorite images. It really was the best DSLR I've had for it's size, durability, and image quality.

Thanks guys! Maybe it's the simplicity of the K100d plus M42 lenses, but I haven't been able to make shots anywhere near as nice with a K-X, K10d, or K200d that I've also used. Oddly shots 1-3 are what inspired me to shoot more slides, as the Provia I shot side by side those days came back with truly stunning colors.

I typically shoot landscapes at halfway between 5.6 and 8. Don't remember exactly what's what, though =/

#1: Super Takumar 35mm f/3.5

#2: Dollar Store Vivitar Auto Wide 28mm f/2.8

#3: Super Takumar 35mm f/3.5 (not positive on this one, we were shooting with all of our cameras and all of our lenses that trip), Probably closer to f/11 for DOF

#4: Old AF Era Sigma 18-35 3.5-4.5 Aspherical, 18mm @ f/11 (this was junk at anything less than that... also note the subdued non-Pentax colors. The actual colors on my Provia 100 looked a lot closer to the reds and oranges of #1) -- Got this as an ultrawide for film, ended up selling it becasue the corners were terrible at all lengths on film.

No problem! the 35mm Super Tak is probably my favorite lens, even though it's a bit dated and slow. Wish I still had that Vivitar as it was quite nice, but something was wrong with the focus mechanism, and it stopped focusing past about 10' later that day...

I need to upload more photos, as that Helios 44M I got from you looks even nicer than the last one I had. My kit on the K-X lately has been the Super Tak 35mm, 44M 58mm, and Super Tak 135mm. I make nicer photos carrying those than i ever do/did with the DA 18-55 and 50-200. I also have probably 300 images from my K100d that are still unsorted/unedited...

Wish I could afford a prime from 18-24 to round out the wide end, but currently I'm filling out my MF lens selection...

I bought my K100D in '06 and still shoot with it today. Although it is now my dedicated IR camera. Here's a couple of shots from inside a Kudzu wasteland in the middle of the forest. This was before I bought the R72 filter. I was using two pieces of un-exposed, developed 35mm film ends taped to the rear element of the 18-35mm kit lens.
