Was out playing with a K-50 in a large red colored store the other day. Fired that baby and 10 people turned around! It's louder than a K100D!! The thwackomatic has been reincarnated!!! At least the shutter anyway! Holy cow! After my wife jumped, she declared that monster was never welcome in our home! But she still likes the K100, go figure.

Scary!

Here are some recently revisited thwacks from my China May 2008 visit... I re-edited them for use in the photo games here, and always find myself re-enjoying the K100D rendering...

All K100D + Tamron 70-300LD, Old Town Chongqing

Thanks, and yeah I like to use the haldclut profiles and various filters/plugins to fake the film look sometimes, and Ive found it's usually a better result with my K100D images than with the K-5...

K100D Super is my first Pentax camera and first DSLR, too. And it's like first love- thing you will never forget. I still have this camera and won't sell it.

Most worthy thing about K100D is the way it can make these grayish foggy and cloudy days so usual in Latvia really brilliant.

Just like this:

or this

or this:

And when I PP images from K100D, I often realize that one couldn't do better than just extract JPG from RAW.

Took this shot of the Milwaukee Harbor Entrance light with my K100D and Tamron 18-200 lens on a cold frosty February Morning
The shot is a HDR Shot processed with Photo Matrix along with a slight color enhancement with Photoshop

That's beautiful work, Elektrolitr. And absolute proof that the K100D is the best camera around at making grey gloomy days look spectacular. Plus your genuine photographic skill, of course.

I've been looking back through some of my K100D shots, and thought I'd repost some of the ones from the early pages of this thread that disappeared when I left Flickr. I really miss my K100D.

That final shot of the skull was one of the very last frames before the K100D died. Seems like a fitting epitaph.

So I picked up a used K-5.(not dumping the K100) A very fine camera and far more advanced every way... But within it's limits the K100D will still make a more pleasing photo!(purely opinion) And the K-5 has some quirks like front or back focus on different lenses. So much so that I have one lens at -8 and another at +4. Never noticed anything like that on my thwackomatic!
Joel
P.S. Keep the cool photos coming!!

it's exactly my experience. K100Dsuper was my first DSLR, and I was so excited that bought a K-5. This was completely different experience. K-5 is awesome camera, but you have to fight it too much. I sold K-5 after two years with no regret, while K100D is still in my bag.

The good thing is that I have K-3 now and it features the same Pentax genes inside despite Ricoh label.

The K100 has qualities which are hard to define. I use my K10d instead these days, also a great camera but different.

My eldest daughter is off on a high school exchange program in Viet Nam for two weeks.

I let her have the K110D and the DA 18-55 kit.

It will be interesting to see what images she brings back with her.

Last Sunday I brought my 8 year old with me on a trip to the coast here, and let him use my K100D. He loved it! It's his first time shooting, so I put it in auto and let him click away. Later on we will go into other modes and how to get the horizons straight etc
When looking at the photos afterwards, I noticed how much warmer the colors from the K100 are (I shoot a K-30), and how nice the pictures turned out!
Some samples (after being straightened up + cropped in LR), this is Houlgate in France:
