K10D Exposure Failure

Ok so I've had my camera since November, and before that I had a K110D (represent!) and my K10 has always had this problem, but it's never really been that much of a nuisance. Occasionally when I turn my camera on, and fire a shot, it fails to expose. It can be outside on a sunny day, the exif data tells me it exposed at, oh say 1/350th and f8. Yet the picture itself is solid black. (Right right lens cap, yeah it's off) But I cannot figure it out! It doesn't matter if the battery grip is attached or not, on or off, which memory card is in use (SD, or SDHC) doesn't make a difference what mode I use...

Or, it comes out solid magenta, and more than occasionally a solid green. It is still under warranty thankfully, but I was curious can I solve this issue myself? With spring right here, and weddings coming up, is it better to keep the camera and fight through the errors, or to send it off for who knows how long?

Help?

Update:

There is a picture of what happens SOMETIMES, usually it is just a solid color.

My firmware is the latest from Pentax, this happens with any lens, there seems to be no rhyme or reason to this. What do you guys recommend?

And turning it off and on again makes it work, right? There was another thread on this a while ago. I had it happen to me twice with my K100D, and once with my K10D. Software glitch, I figure. But since I can't make it repeat, it's hard to diagnose.

On and off works usually, sometimes I have to turn it on and off at least 4 times before it works correctly. I have saved some of the error pictures.

This is a shot in the dark, but does it happen with every lens, or only one of them?

You know, I'm not really sure. I just assumed sensor issue the second I saw the strange colors. But by all means, I am open to any suggestion.

Actually, I'm not sure. I don't really know how to check that stuff.

Switch the camera on while pressing the Menu button. You will see Ver 1.00 or whatever version you have. 1.30 is the latest.

I've had the same problem with my K10D, um, well, the pictures just turn magenta, not green d: and I have the latest firmware..

It's been at service for two times and they have not fixed it, now it's away for the third time and I hope that I will get a new one.

How long does the service usually take? I have my K110D as a backup camera but... I can't go long periods without my K10D.

Well, the first time it took about two weeks (at the service center here in Sweden). The other time they sent it to Germany and it took about a month before I got it back.

That only happened once to my K10D, which is in the middle of the continue shooting of Eclipse. I shot at RAW, then got it in ACR and change the White Balance and it is all good again.. ( my pic wasn't that green tho):ugh:

I had a memory card that I purchased from ebay that would render all dark files and then out of the blue it would render a good file. So I threw it away. All that to say maybe try a different memory card. Good Luck.
