At the time I bought my K100D Super, Black's and Future Shop both carried the basic Pentax line locally. Now neither do. I see Black's still has a couple of leftover lenses online. It was a happy day for me when Henry's opened in Sudbury.

I live in Toronto, so Henry's Church location, Downtown Camera, and Aden Camera are usually my go-to for actually checking out the gear. The selection at all of them is rather small. I feel like after Henry's remodelled their downtown location their Pentax display has gotten smaller.

There is no local Pentax store. The only real camera store near me is Service Photo and they are primarily Nikon and Canon. But, if I need something that is not specific to Pentax I go there. I like to buy local when ever it is possible.

What Jay said. There's Ace Camera down in Virginia. Just on principle, I drove down there to buy my K-5. Outside, it's a box in one of those suburban commercial blocks but pretty nice inside. It's a pretty horrendous drive through the DC traffic between here and there, though--probably a 1hr drive at 2am but at least 2hrs any other time.

Oh, don't tell me that, I haven't seen the Pentax section since they remodelled, and it wasn't all the good before.

About 10 mins by car. But they do have maybe one body only and few lenses. If want something else must order. Abot 20 mins drive there is other one that have more pentax stuff but not much. Then about 1 hour drive have one pentax market also. But camera market that have all/many pentax bodies and many lenses onstock same as canonikons i do not know if this country have, i think not have even one.

I think Pentax Ricoh Canada needs to spend a lot more on advertising.

Darn, now I want to see a picture of the display....sounds like it might be in competition, for best Pentax store in North America.

Because Nikon is not a wholy-owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi. Nikon stock is traded publicly under the symbol NINOY (in the USA).

Ricoh owns Pentax Imaging outright.

I was in Robi's two weeks ago just to remind myself that new Pentax equipment actually exists in the three dimensional universe. Next time I'm there I'll take a few snapshots if they are OK with it. Robi's is a consolidation of at least two other professional photography and A/V stores in Seattle and south Puget Sound. I used to go into Rainier Photographic Supply for color darkroom chemicals and film in the 1980s.

In the store Pentax gear has key real estate and the sales staff are very knowledgeable. The only other serious retail Pentax presence in Seattle is Kenmore Camera. Not as comprehensive as Robi's, and much more oriented to bigger selling brands, but they do have Pentax inventory.

The largest pro shop, Glazers in downtown Seattle, had a spell of going full hog on Pentax DSLR around 2007-8, but as jatrax noted, the well is dry now.

It's a tough business and I'm fortunate to have an excellent Pentax dealer within a 15 minute motor scooter ride from my worksite.

+1 on Robi's, I stop in there when I go by if I can but it's a four hour drive to get there so not going to do much casual shopping there. Staff has been really nice every time I've gone in.

How did you know I was talking about Glazers? Nice shop by the way, a real treat to stop in there. My wife was at a conference in town so I had the whole day to kill, so I visited camera shops I was really tempted by a DA*300 they had in the used case, but a couple of dents/scratches and no hood so I passed. Nice folks to chat with, and the store was busy, busy. I think there were 5 salespeople and all were working.

I've heard that CameraWorld in downtown Portland has a good display now but I haven't been there since they re-declared their independence after their Ritz alliance. I'd like to drop in and see what their K-3 plans are - but I don't get downtown often. I see their website is still showing 'for preorder' so they should stock a few live copies..

About 15 mins from me is Digital Camera Warehouse. They are about the cheapest i could find in australia. When you walk in the store its just straight ahead and they have a K5 K5iis some limited lenses sometimes and i think that had a DA*300 in store once but on their website they have about everything. Theres also a camera pro shop about 30 mins away in the city and they are about the same price as DCW.
