In Central France where I live there is bugger all. However, I have occasion to travel to London every now and again and just to the North West of London but still on the metropolitan transport system, so easily reached, is Watford where SRS Microsystems are located. It is probably the premier Pentax stockist on the planet so easily worth the trek.

I used to live in Tokyo where the Pentax Forum was about 10 minutes away by train.
Now back in England I'm not sure who/where the closest stockist is.

I believe my nearest brick & mortar Pentax dealer might be in Windsor, ON - Henry's. That is a 12+ hour drive and a passport is required. I've heard rumors that I might be able to buy Pentax equipment at National Camera Exchange in Minneapolis. That's a mere 8 hour drive.

I'm lucky to live 12 miles west of Manhattan & B&H and Adorama... plus Unique Photo in Fairfield NJ now carries Pentax (to the PhotoPlus show too!) is a 15-20 minute drive.

Hearing from others around N America it seems we are relatively fortunate here in Toronto. All the same, I don't find the Henrys store very inspiring even after the renovation. The feeling seems to be more about selling stuff than creativity. Vistek on Queen E also carries Pentax - they have some bodies on sale at the moment.

In Edmonton pretty much all the major stores that sell cameras here sell Pentax. McBain Camera, Dons Photo, London Drugs, Vistek. The Camera Store near Calgary as well, and the good ol Internet if need be.

Here in the Los Angeles area, the nearest store(s) that claim to carry Pentax are:

1. Target (carries x5 and WG) only
2. Frys (if you're lucky, you'll find a 3 year old box with a 50-200mm WR lens) -15 miles
3. Samy's Camera (if you're lucky, you'll find a demo model of a K-30 or K-50/500) - everything is order only. I lost interest in Samy's after they wanted $599 for an open box K-30 with a non-WR 18-55mm lens. I picked up a 'new' K-30 from Amazon for $460 w/o tax/shipping.

Closest 'real' store that probably carries Pentax in SoCal is probably the Denver headquarters.

Best bets are B&H/Adorama or Amazon.

The nearest store that carries Pentax in my place (Camerahaus) is less than 4 kilometers away... and virtually present in every big mall in every city in Metro Manila. Carries all Pentax bodies (Surprisingly the K-01 is still in stock here).

Too bad we always get new items late though, even if the bodies are made in the country.
Also, we're short on accessories... even body caps and those little stuff. Even lenses

Very good. There are about three camera stores within about 5 miles...and everyone stocks Pentax equipment . If they don't have it in stock, it arrives within a week or two. I've bought 3 Pentax bodies, 9 Pentax lenses, one Sigma lens and a Pentax flash since November 2007.

No complaints.

I'm live on the Canadian Prairies.

At the time I bought my K100D Super, Black's and Future Shop both carried the basic Pentax line locally. Now neither do. I see Black's still has a couple of leftover lenses online. It was a happy day for me when Henry's opened in Sudbury.
I'm in Western Canada. We have one Black's in a local mall. I never see many people in it. How's it doing in the East ? It mostly seems to be a P+S store.

We have a number of Henry's, Don's Photo and London Drugs...all of which are quite good and stock Pentax equipment.

Pretty much the same with the Black's store here. P&S, a few accessories, photo books/printing and more recently a large selection of Telus mobile phones.

Lots of p&s cameras, and good pricing. Their main business was film developing back in the day, just like Henry's. Unlike Henry's, Black's didn't go so hard into photography. Funny, because I remember their theme song: "Black's is photography"

What Loren said... no Pentax in stores in Florida. Maybe a couple of P&S in the mall "electronics" stores, but NOBODY that I know of stocks DLSR gear. Here in Miami there's one largish store, Canikon and Sony only. They used to sneer at my Pentax gear ages ago (Spotmatic days), but lately have not been quite so snooty. Couple of their sales folks have even admitted to me that Pentax makes good gear, there were Pentaxes in their own collections years ago, but not any longer. About 20 years ago there were some smaller stores (Ritz, Worldwide, etc.), and one independent, Phil's Camera. Phil's carried a fair inventory of Pentax, and I got my last Pentax film camera at a Worldwide store. But today? Nada. Zip. Nichts. Mailorder or nothing.

I live in the mid NW suburbs of Chicago, and camera stores are few and far between. Then nearest B&M camera store that stocks any Pentax is about 18 miles (29km) away, and the Pentax presence is best described as "barely". They usually only stock only entry level DSLR bodies, a few consumer level lenses, Q and kit lenses, and a few P&S. It's what I'd consider a mid sized camera store. I purchased my first Q and all of my Q system lenses from them as I believe in supporting local business (and am willing to pay the high sales taxes (10%) to do this).

Calumet Photo is the largest of the camera stores in the 'burbs, and is about 17 miles (27km) away from my house. The last time I was there, they had only one Pentax on the shelf -- a K-5 and nothing in lenses. Online, they show pretty much the whole line, but IIRC that's only been more recently. They have a larger downtown store, but for me, driving (and parking) in the inner city is a prospect that I dread, so I've never been there.

Central Camera (located in the "Loop" -- central downtown Chicago) is the oldest camera store in the inner city (a suburbanite's worst nightmare for driving and parking). They are the place to go for film and printing supplies, and it's a veritable museum for old professional gear. There is virtually no Pentax presence for digital, even online.

Pentax has started to show up in some of the big box stores, but only certain models (usually at the lower end).

There used to be one pro oriented camera store about 10 miles away, but he closed his store and only sells at shows and by appointment now. I bought my DS and K10 from him. At best, he had one or two bodies and a handful of new lenses, but was the best Pentax B&M store in the area in the digital era. The owner was a hoot -- pure salesman -- and I soon realized that I he was not the best source for information, but to his credit, he never made a promise that he didn't keep, and always followed up and kept me informed about the status of everything I ordered through him.

I agree with everyone who's commented about Hoya's negative effect to Pentax's store presence. During their tenure, they eliminated their already dwindling regional sales reps and raised the minimum order commitment to levels that small mom and pop stores could not even consider them.

Unfortunately, even though I live in a very large metro area, my best sources are online.
