Both are great in their own way. The K20D's sensor does higher ISO better than the K10D and I thought she'll be shooting indoors a lot. Even with the popup flash there'll be time when the ISO will be too high for the K10D. I'd miss either one of them. I got the K10D in Dec '07 and the K20D in Apr '08 so I've had them for awhile. Maybe I should give her the K-3?
Funny!

Sign me up for the K10 club. I joined PF the first time when I first got mine. I was looking at the Canon back then and dropping 25 g for a system to replicate (like canon can replicate old Pentax lenses) the lenses I have in Pentax. Then I saw the K10. I've never looked back. I used to do a lot of photography for work and took thousands of Little G in the last 6 years but alas not much the last year. While I would love a new FF funds aren't there and really, would it be any better than the K10 for what I shoot now? I doubt it. I love panos and the 10 is just fine for that. When we got out large format in at work I finally got to print out a couple of them. Both were 20 shots each and hours of PS putting it together by hand. I knew the K10 was great at 11 x 14 but it's still good at 8 feet. They're hanging in our shop and I get a lot of compliments on them. Most don't believe a K10 took them.

Here's a couple of shots trying to show the size and emptiness of Dartmoor. First with the SMC Takumar 105mm/2.8:

And one with the SMC Takumar 50mm/1.4. Can you spot the building?

That's a beautiful shot of the full moon. Hopefully the clouds will clear and you'll get some great eclipse shots. The eclipse is at 3-4am where I am, so I don't think I'll be photographing it.

I've finally got the funds together to switch to a newer camera and the plan was to make the purchase over the weekend. But I've been thinking about it and thinking about it, looking through my photos over the past couple of years with my K10D clone, and in the end I've decided to stick with what I've got. I feel like I'm only now beginning to really get the best out of the 10MP CCD, and the limiting factor is definitely my limited talent rather than anything to do with the camera.

So I've come to the conclusion that it's pointless spending hundreds on a new camera when it's unlikely to have any significant effect on the end results I'm getting. I've got fast lenses so I don't need very high ISO, I don't make huge prints so I'm fine with 10MP, and I still have serious doubts about the colour rendering of CMOS sensors.

Looks like I'm in the K10D club for the foreseeable future.

Get yourself into a camera store you wont mind going back to ever again with a SD card and a lens you know super well, snap away on a K3/K5 what ever they have, take those images home and you'll be like ahhh. so that's it. Cool.

Having said that..

What did I sell my K10, grip, 3x batteries for? $185

Then I went and spent

K5 - $300
Grip - $120
2 x Batteries - $40
Focus Screen - $98
= $558

Minus the sale of the K10 and this replacement toy has cost me $373

Is $373 worth it? well, not for me it's not, but your millage might vary :P

But hey, toys are good right?

That's the thing: I've decided that for me it's not worth it. Purely a personal decision; I'm not trying to tell other people that they shouldn't move to a newer camera if they see an improvement that's meaningful to them.

This is exactly the reason which I don't buy a more advanced camera

I completely agree with you Dave and geol.
1,5 years ago I bought a 2nd hand K5. It works well but still, at least 80% of my pic's since then has been taken by my good old K10d. The two main reasons are; the CCD and the size. Yes, I know that it's possible to get very much the same colour by PP. But I'm still not able to produce the same jpg colours by my K5 + PP as I get directly by the K10d. In case it takes long time.

With large hands on the top of this it's now clear; I made a wrong investment 1,5 years ago! (I learned photo the time Ectachrome and Velvia dominated). For me it's "dangerous" to pass iso 200.
