Thanks Paul. I've really liked the recent shots you've been posting around the forum with the Takumar 28mm -- I think the Takumar rendering really suits your shooting style. I've never owned the early Tak 28mm with the 58mm filter ring, so I can't say how it compares directly with the later version with the 49mm ring, but the fact that Asahi completely re-designed the lens suggests that the early version might not have been all that sharp.

You should definitely give the 28mm a try on your K10D: it has a weaker anti-aliasing filter than the *istD and you should get sharper results. When I switched from the K100D to the K10D clone GX-10, I found that the improvement in sharpness and resolution with my Takumars was dramatic.
That is a brilliant shot of yours with the 28mm. You are definitely encouraging me to put my 28mm Super-Tak on the K10D and fire off a few shots. For some unexplained reason I feel that I am getting better results with my Takumars on the K10D than on the K-3. I know that sounds silly but that is how I feel.

Less pixels? Surely the K10 would be much more forgiving on the Taks in that regard?

#edit.. Wait.. I'm not even sure I know what that is supposed to mean :S

I have an SMC-A 28mm F2.8 which is also gives excellent images. I only just started using it on my K10 so no images worth showing but I've owned it for about 20 years. One of the problems with old lenses acquired second-hand is how they have been treated, I also own an M series 24mm (from new) which has proven quite sensitive to bumps and knocks affecting performance.

I don't know if it's the K10D's "CCD colors" or your PP, but these have WOW all over them!

Late breaking news: I just got my first Explore on Flickr with this image and I am super excited.

Great images, Ray and Graham - is that a train speeding past in that shot? Ray, you did well with the Tamron zoom.
A couple more from Sunday with the kit lens:

Thank you, Paul. Yes, that Tamron has always performed well. And so has that image - I got an Explore with it and it has has 1539 views and 76 faves.

The fine detail with the kit lens in that first shot is amazing. I like the both the colour and mono versions.
